In mid August I was finally allowed to get on my skis again, so with that news, I headed straight out to Les Deux Alpes to get my first training camp in with my new coach – Guillaume Nantermod (New head of BSS Ski and Snowboard Cross- below middle left)
I was also stoked to hook up with my buddy Jakey Richardson and the GBX crew, and get some training in with Zoe Gillings.
I was so happy to get back on my boards that the quickly disappearing snow didn’t dampen the training, and we managed to get a full packed week full of progressions and new things to work on.
Getting back in the air was the best feeling. Starting on day 2, knee feeling good, working on new positions and transitions while jumping. I have a tendency to fly super high, so learning to jump low is a big step for me.
It was also really cool to see some of the GB Alpine guys out there, caught up with Cara on the lift. Lets go GB!
I find summer camps so awesome because coming down the mountain there are so many options for dryland training.
From Beach volleyball, swimming and hiking, to climbing the Via Ferrata, this pic is a small piece of the 500m vertical route we took. So much fun!
We even took an afternoon to do some road biking, climbing the Alpe D’Huez and back up to Les Deux Alpes. Was pretty awesome to see where the Tour De France goes… even if I was crawling up in comparison!
All in all, a great few days back on skis. Continuing to get stronger, learn new skills and building for the BIG season to come.
Shoutout to the GBX kids… thanks for training with me!
