Being a ski bum is pretty damn awesome

So iv been struggling a bit with my skiing, my body, my head. I have been having bad pain and bad skiing and not really enjoying life UNTIL i raced a Super G today. I wasnt awesome or fast but i had SOOOO much fun!! My day job is AMAZING!!!! I may not get healed in the next few days and i also wont get crazy quick but step by step my head is back and im back in the game… ๐Ÿ™‚

With my knee misbehaving and Zauchensee having its fair share of jumps, Duncan the Doc and I decided not to start the Downhill. It was a really tough decision to make and a seriously frustrating one but i think it was the ย best thing to do. I strapped on the long boards and raced the Super G but didnt make it too far… Making a really stupid mistake i was really pissed at myself. BUT i get to run the Europa Cup race now and im excited to FINALLY get a run down this hill!!

Saalbach tore our hearts out…

Id been out in Austria 1 day when disaster struck. We were skiing Super G in Saalbach when it happened. As alot of you may know a great friend Kelly McBroom ended her season. A tragic spell of misfortune was all it took. First Chemmy, and now Kelly. Heartbreaking! Not forgetting Alice McKennis the day before Kel. Saalbach’s a bitch!

Kelly recently closed the book on 22 months of rehab with an epic come back to ski racing in the Lake Louise World Cup. With the support of family and friends she got there stronger than ever before. Well that support is being called upon once again in this cruel turn of events. Its going to be another challenging road for her but she is one of the strongest people iv ever met, and with the network of people she has, i have no doubt she’ll be back dominating the slopes in the not so distant future. Something im already looking forward to.

You will be happy to know shes in great spirits. Apparently she told the ambulance crew that she wanted to be Harry Potter! She also told us that she has 1 reallllyyyy cute doctor and we were discussing her awesome ‘special k’ pills as well as the scary mean german nurses!

Ludicrous speed since 1989… Team Commonwealth misses you!!

Here she is day 1…

She has strict orders…

Feeling better on day 2 with her own clothes and the Terwiels flowers…

Getting to know her new friend Paul…

A very sparse Team Commonwealth…

Playing around with her mobile…

We miss you…

She’ll be back…

Stronger than ever…

A big heal fast to Kelly, Alice and ofcourse Chemmy!
